How to Apply
London Essex College welcomes applications from students achieving excellence in a wide range of qualifications. Individual courses reserve the right to judge the relevance and the acceptability of any qualification or individual subject when considering and application. Where any UK qualifications or subject are less favoured, this will made clear within the published selection criteria against individual courses.

Admission procedure at London Essex College

  • Candidates normally contact either LEC or to the appointed consultants. If candidates consult the appointed consultants they process the application at initial stage. All the information is passed to LEC as per requirement of LEC admission procedure.
  • As part of admission procedure students have to submit all their application form, educational documents, copy of passport, photographs and experience certificates at LEC admission office for the initial documents processing.
  • At the second stage of the admission procedure, student’s educational documents are assessed through NARIC comparability to determine the right level of course in different disciplines for the students.  Depending on the outcome of the assessment at this stage students are advised about the level of the course can pursue.
  • The required English Language ability depends on the level of the course the candidate wishes to study. According to the new UKBA rule (recently updated 04 July 2011):


Students who wish to study at NQF/QCF level 6 (SCQF 9) and above normally need to produce a Secure English Language Test (SELT) certificate, from a UK Border Agency approved provider, showing that they have achieved level B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR) in each of the 4 components: speaking; listening; reading; and writing.

Students who wish to study between NQF/QCF levels 3 and 5 (SCQF 6-8) normally need to produce a SELT certificate, from a UK Border Agency approved provider, showing that they have achieved level B1 on the CEFR in each of the 4 components: speaking; listening; reading; and writing.

  • (A)- Once the student’s educational documents are assessed, right level of course is determined and student has proved required level of English language ability students are issued with an offer letter for the course at LEC. If any case that the administration and the academic department has approved the all the candidates documents and ability to study but is required to provide further documents LEC will issue a conditional offer letter. The validity of the offer is subject to the candidates completing the requirements stated on his/her conditional offer letter.
  • (B)- Once the offer letter issued to prospective students, they have to confirm about their decision through a form provided by LEC. At this stage student can do further deliberation and is allowed to make an informed decision about his/her education intent at LEC.
  • Once the student has confirmed through consent form, they need to pay the required amount of tuition fee as per LEC admission policy. Once the payment/ funds are cleared, LEC will issue the student with a CAS (confirmation of acceptance of studies)
